Saturday, doing what no one had ever thought to do, an uncompromisingly unique and interesting couple took their engagement photos at the street lights in front of LACMA.
“We’re totally a quirky and weird couple. We like fun stuff like the Starbucks fall lattes and being lazy on Sundays, so when it came to getting engagement photos we decided to do something totally bananas.” Said Brian Marsh who was picking out fun ties for his groomsmen.
Trisha Watkins recalls when the thoughtful and original insight hit them, “We were trying to think outside the bun [sic] while we were eating at this little known food truck, The Grilled Cheese Truck, and it hit us, let’s take a photo by all those street lights over there!”
The installation of street lights in front of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is a sculpture called Urban Light which was designed Chris Burden, and to this day has never been photographed with someone standing in or around the street lights.
“I think it’s a brilliant idea to be photographed amongst the lights, but I haven’t seen a single couple take photos in Urban Light,” said Michael Govan, LACMA CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director. “The idea is so smart and relevant to today’s culture, I’d like to dedicate a wing featuring their engagement photos in LACMA.”

Friends and family are blown away by the photos as well. “I’ve lived in LA for 10 years, and when I saw their engagement photos I was stunned. I’d have never thought to take a picture near Urban Light, let alone in it,” Said longtime friend Delia Brooks. “I bought them both new Hyundais as engagement presents because creativity like that needs to be rewarded.”
When reached for comment, the estate of Chris Burden, the artist responsible for Urban Light, released this statement, “Chris would be eternally grateful for the couple being photographed in the lights. He always felt Urban Light was incomplete, but having seen these engagment photos, we’re sure this is what he felt was missing. These soon to be married geniuses are true artists. Effective immediately, we’re asking for Chris’ name to be taken off the piece and be replaced by that of the couple.”
Other innovative plans for the wedding include throwing the bouquet to the Beyonce song Single Ladies, and the bride and groom shoving cake in each others faces.
