Three days after his Lyft driver Mikey dropped him off, Quinn Hood is still wondering if he’ll ever see his new friend again. “I’ve lived in LA for about 3 years now, and I have friends, but this felt like the first real connection I’ve made. I tipped him five bucks and left my phone number in the comments section.”

While the ride lasted only 15 minutes, from Hollywood to “Bootie LA” at the Echoplex, the impact on Quinn’s life has been profound. “Mikey had a unique perspective on life. He just cut through the BS. By the end of ride, we were laughing, and finishing each other’s sentences.”

When asked about the ride with Quinn, Mikey had no recollection of the event “I guess I could have driven him. I drive people to Bootie LA all the time. But it’s just polite conversation. We literally have to do it. It’s part of the training.”

Unfortunately, for Quinn it was more than that.  In the past 3 days, Quinn has spent over a hundred dollars on Lyft rides.  “I keep hoping it’s Mikey. I don’t want to cancel and ruin my rating, so I make up an errand. I’ve been to Hollywood and Highland 5 times.” Quinn paused to reflect for a moment. “Sometimes I ask the driver if they know him. They don’t and that point it usually gets quiet. But, I know we’ll find each other again someday.  I put up a Missed Connection on CraigsList. Hopefully he’ll see it.”

At this point Quinn’s phone buzzed to let him know that “Matt” was on his way. “I guess I go to The Grove and walk around for an hour.  Maybe, I’ll get him on the way home.”
